With summer almost here we thought we would share some of our highest rated City Hall wedding pictures<\/a><\/strong> for 2026. We chose these particular wedding pictures based on social media statistics that we gathered over the past year or so. When compiling these social media stats, we look at things such as “page likes” and social media shares. Obviously, the more shares and likes the better.\u00a0 We also happen to love these pictures and feel that they are representative of the types of photos we capture for our San Francisco city hall newlyweds. We wanted to show city hall wedding pictures that represent our typical photo coverage. When you book a City Hall Wedding Photographer<\/strong> you should have a pretty good idea of how your own photos will turn out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Winning San Francisco City Hall Wedding Photos are Displayed Below<\/h3>\n

The photos below come from one of our favorite San Francisco city hall weddings of the past couple of years. They were chosen for this blog because they are quite typical of the types of San Francisco City Hall photos we often capture<\/a><\/strong>. As mentioned above, these were also some of the most popular. The couple featured in the photos below, are just another example of some of the great brides and grooms we work with at San Francisco city hall. We really seem to attract some great couples and enjoy them all!<\/p>\n

Katie and Kyle reserved the 4th Floor North Gallery\u00a0 to allow all of their guests to sit down in chairs and relax. The City Hall Events Department refers to these types of events as “Reserved Weddings”.\u00a0 \u00a0They rope off each side of the floor to allow the bridal party to have privacy from other weddings and tourists. This is typical of how the city hall Events department handles these types of reserved weddings. The cost for this is $1,200 for 1 hour of reserved time. Paying this extra price allows you to go over the 6 guest limit that Civil Ceremonies have to comply with.\u00a0 \u00a0In fact, you can have 60 guests if you pay for a reserved San Francisco city hall wedding.\u00a0 It seems to work better with slightly less people, but 60 is definitely possible.\u00a0 Most of our clients keep it between 30 and 40 people and that works great and never seems too crowded. UPDATE: The current cost of a City Hall reserved ceremony was recently increased from $1,000 to $1,200.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Benefits of Having a More Typical SF City Hall Wedding<\/h3>\n

Don’t get me wrong, I love City Hall’s civil ceremonies as much as anyone. But some brides having their wedding at San Francisco City Hall want a more traditional wedding than would otherwise be offered with a $100 civil ceremony. For those couples, a Mayor’s Balcony or 4th floor Reserved ceremony is the perfect solution. This particular couple was able to have a traditional wedding procession with the bride being led into the ceremony by her parents.\u00a0 It was nice to be the wedding photographer for this type of traditional wedding at San Francisco city hall.\u00a0 The happy groom enjoyed\u00a0 watching his bride as she came in with her parents. If you are a more traditional couple, you will love this approach. This type of ceremony is not allowed for the quick Civil Ceremonies.<\/p>\n

After a 20 minute ceremony and some very romantic vows, the couple were married! Check out this relevant article comparing traditional weddings and civil ceremonies<\/a>.\u00a0 <\/strong>The type of vows to recite and the ceremony style \u00a0can be a tough decision to make for engaged couples.\u00a0 There is also the question about whether to incorporate some religion or faith into your wedding.\u00a0 These are difficult questions that almost every future bride and groom ponder.\u00a0 I found this great article that explores religion in wedding ceremonies<\/a> <\/strong>even further.\u00a0 Religious references are perfectly fine for reserved wedding ceremonies at SF city hall. You can bring in your own officiant to perform this type of ceremony. These types of references are generally not included in Civil Ceremonies at city hall. However, you can ask the officiant for the opportunity to say some brief vows to each other. I have rarely seen this request turned down.<\/p>\n

The Importance of Family Photos at a SF City Hall Wedding<\/h2>\n

This particular bride was well prepared with a list of family photos that she provided us prior to the wedding.\u00a0 We love it when the couple can give us a predetermined list of family groupings.\u00a0 It truly makes that part of the wedding go much faster allowing more time for the bride and groom formal photos throughout the building. More importantly, It assures that you don’t miss taking pictures of any important people in your group.\u00a0 We began our formal bride and groom wedding pictures tour once we completed the family portraits.\u00a0 We then escorted the happy couple around the building on what we call our “city hall photo tour”.\u00a0 As you might imagine, this tour involves leading the newlyweds around the building and taking pictures at some of the best spots. See below for some of our top rated photos of this wedding photography shoot. San Francisco City Hall has so many amazing places for wedding photography that it is a very easy tour to do and lots of fun!<\/p>\n

Details of Our SF City Hall Photography Tour<\/h2>\n

We spent around 40 minutes going from floor to floor at San Francisco city hall and taking pictures at many of our favorite locations.\u00a0 It was unseasonably warm for an early February wedding so we took it slow to keep our bride fresh.\u00a0 We were also quite pleased with the lack of crowds for a Thursday.\u00a0 Normally Thursdays are the second busiest day at San Francisco city hall, but early February is a slower time here and we were blessed with no crowds and thus given the opportunity to capture some great images. You just never know from day to day, but this particular time was perfect.\u00a0 We were happy to help our newlyweds obtain many great photos of their marriage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With both the bride and groom letting us know that they were athletic, we asked them if they would be willing to do a lift shot at the end of our coverage.\u00a0 We wanted Kyle to pick up Katie and lift her high in the air in front of the city hall sign.\u00a0 Here is the fantastic result (below)! There are many different ways to pull off a classic bride and groom lift shot<\/a>,<\/strong> here are some ideas from another photography website.
