Many people have told me that I am a rare breed, an actual San Francisco native.\u00a0 I was born in the city and lived there for many years with my family when I was young. Even after moving inland for a while, I came back here to go to school. San Francisco is a transient area with many inhabitants having come from all over the country. My neighborhood growing up happened to be the famous Haight Ashbury District and I was there in the 1960’s during the “Hippie” era.\u00a0 I remember walking through the Golden Gate Park, Pan Handle as a small child and literally stepping over Hippies lying in the streets as I walked with my classmates to school. Coming back to the area as a SF City Hall wedding photographer has been great. It has taught me more about living in this amazing and beautiful city. I enjoy spending time here whenever I can and certainly after I photography a wedding at San Francisco city hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Back when I first lived here, It was quite an experience and a different time.\u00a0 We used to play outside by ourselves with no fear.\u00a0 I could walk home from school by myself and we didn’t think it was any big deal. I am still amazed thinking about how I would walk home 3 blocks from school as a third grader with no parental supervision.\u00a0 Were my parents not vigilant enough? It just wasn’t an issue back on those days, but things changed quickly as we all know. As a young adult I attended the University of San Francisco, which was also walking distance from where I lived as a child.\u00a0 So what does any of this have to do with wedding photography at San Francisco city hall<\/a><\/strong>?\u00a0 Keep reading to find out….<\/p>\n\n\n\n The San Francisco community fancies itself as an art society.\u00a0 \u00a0People here are very in touch with their “right brain”.\u00a0 What does this mean?\u00a0 Right brainers are focused on creative pursuits and art.\u00a0 San Francisco inspires artists to create.\u00a0 It’s hard to define, but I just know that many of the best San Francisco wedding photographers<\/a><\/strong> are concerned with providing their clients with more than just traditional images.\u00a0 \u00a0They want to use San Francisco as a backdrop for amazing creative and dramatic wedding images.\u00a0 It is easy to do here, because the city offers so much in terms of old buildings and iconic locations to use as beautiful backgrounds for wedding pictures.\u00a0It is also very inspiring in general to be a San Francisco wedding photographer in this environment. When we escort our couples on a photo tour of San Francisco<\/strong><\/a>, we talk about the lifestyle and also show examples.\u00a0 When it comes to the city, it is more than just the beauty, it’s the culture and\u00a0 the history.\u00a0 \u00a0I know it may be overreaching a little bit, I truly think that many of our brides and grooms like to\u00a0 feel the whole San Francisco persona.\u00a0 It is a unique city and has a flavor all it’s own.\u00a0 We hope to capture this for you in your city hall wedding photographs including various San Francisco destinations we happen to take you to.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Fortunately, there have been some positive changes with regard to the cleanliness in San Francisco and homelessness in late 2025 and into 2026. Things have been getting better for sure.\u00a0 However, these types of challenges exist in all big cities and there are no easy answers.\u00a0 Rest assured, that any locations we take our couples will be safe and there is nothing to worry about. We know our way around the city and we will definitely keep you out of trouble. Growing up here as I did, gives me many advantages and I am happy to help with wedding day planning and destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The city has so many amazing landmarks and historical locations to take our couples for wedding photography. The Grand Staircase in the photo above is one of these San Francisco Landmarks and just happens to be at SF City Hall itself! Tourists from all over the world flock to see it and take pictures of it. It makes for a great wedding photography background as you can see. On any given day, you will find many San Francisco residents enjoying the beauty and elegance of these places not only in city hall but outside. This is part of the San Francisco lifestyle<\/a><\/strong>, a very easy going pace when compared to other large cities. Hanging out in Golden Gate park, spending time by the Painted Ladies or just walking along Baker Beach. These activities are all part of how people live in the City by the Bay. It is definitely laid-back life style and I happen to love it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The fact that I grew up here makes me even more motivated to show visitors what a fun place it is to live. We do this during our San Francisco Photo tour that usually comes after their City Hall wedding. It certainly is a great place to be a wedding photographer. Where else can you give your newlywed clients so many options for picture taking. We often find ourselves helping our clients to narrow down their choices when they are trying to decide where to go. The weather in San Francisco is sometimes maligned for its persistent fog in the spring, but the fact is we rarely have terrible weather here. In 1,000 SF city hall weddings that I have photographed here over the past 15 years, rain has only adversely affected my shoots 3 times. We still managed to get some great umbrella pictures in these rare instances. The photo below is more typical of the type of weather you can expect in San Francisco nearly year round.
