LGBTQ Weddings at City Hall on a Special Day
June of 2024 featured a single day where San Francisco City Hall allowed almost unlimited weddings. This day was June 28 and it was part of Gay Pride week. It was estimated that close to 250 couple got married that day. We photographed our own wedding on that day and it was amazing how many people were around. In fact, all of June featured some fun couples with all kinds of diversity and various nationalities. As is often the case, some of these weddings wanted a very short coverage, just staying with the confines of San Francisco city hall.
Others opted for the full treatment and so we took them all over San Francisco on one of our popular photo tours. We frequently were outside photographing these couples and and enjoying the beauty of the City by the Bay! For the most part we got pretty lucky with the weather. San Francisco can be very foggy in June, but we really only had one wedding where we had to make a slight change of plans because of the fog. We often try to take our newly married couples to Fort Point when it is really foggy because the bridge is so close. But sometimes that doesn’t work, and get very close to the Golden Gate Bridge in order to see it.
Extended Wedding Photography at City Hall
In addition to the many same-sex weddings, we also had a few very long coverage city hall weddings in June and in early July. Many of our clients ask us to take some pictures at their wedding celebration after the ceremony. When it comes to San Francisco City Hall, we rarely do what would be considered a full scale wedding reception, but it usually takes place at a nice place to eat in the city. We are more than happy to accompany you to your party and obtain some nice candid images of cake cutting, toasts, and dancing. Whatever your celebration involves we will cover it and provide you with plenty of detail shots.
Our extensive 20 years of experience with full scale wedding helps us in this regard. We have photographed over 1,900 weddings in our long career. Dealing with every possible situation has given us some great experience which we are happy to share with our clients. We were surprised at how many of our clients wanted to extend their coverage and have their photos done at some of San Francisco’s best destinations including Baker Beach, The Palace of Fine Arts, Fort Point and The Legion of Honor. Recently, Woodline in the Presidio and Sutro Park has become very popular with our clients. With the Pandemic behind us, many of these famous places were once again filled with tourists, but we always manage to make our way around the people and provide you with fantastic images. We will not send you images with strangers in them! Baker beach was particularly popular this entire year for some reason so we got a lot of beach time!
