LGBTQ Weddings at SF City Hall on a Special Day
June of 2026 will feature a single day where San Francisco City Hall will allow almost unlimited weddings performed. The estimate for June 27 of last year was over 220 weddings. This celebrates Gay Pride week and last year (2025) and it is always a great day for San Francisco city hall wedding photography. We had a wedding booked for that day and it was be amazing to see how many people were around. As is often the case, most of the weddings wanted very short coverage, just staying within the confines of San Francisco city hall.
Other newlyweds have opted for the full treatment and so we will take them all over San Francisco on one of our popular photo tours. We frequently are outside photographing these couples and enjoying the beauty of the City by the Bay! San Francisco can be very foggy in June so you really never know about the conditions for outdoor wedding pictures. This is especially the case when it IS foggy for Golden Gate bridge pictures for example. We often try to take our newly married couples to Fort Point because the bridge is so close and this takes some of the fog factor out of the picture. Sometimes that doesn’t work and we have to get very close to the Golden Gate Bridge in order to see it.
Extended Wedding Photography at City Hall
In addition to the many same-sex weddings we photograph in June, we also have a few very long coverage city hall weddings in the summer months. Many of our clients ask us to take some pictures at their wedding reception celebration after the ceremony. When it comes to San Francisco City Hall, we rarely do what would be considered a full scale wedding reception, but it usually takes place at a nice place to eat in the city. We are more than happy to accompany you to your party and obtain some nice candid images of cake cutting, toasts, and dancing. Whatever your celebration involves we will cover it and provide you with plenty of detail shots.
Our extensive 20 years of experience with full scale wedding helps us in this regard. We have photographed over 2,000 weddings in our long career. Dealing with every possible situation has given us some great experience which we are happy to share with our clients. We were surprised at how many of our clients wanted to extend their coverage and have their photos done at some of San Francisco’s best destinations including Baker Beach, The Palace of Fine Arts, Fort Point and The Legion of Honor. Recently, Woodline in the Presidio and Sutro Park has become very popular with our clients.
With the Pandemic well behind us, many of these famous places were once again filled with tourists, but we always manage to make our way around the people and provide you with fantastic images. We will not send you images with strangers in them! Baker Beach was particularly popular this entire year for some reason so we got a lot of beach time! I think we photographed close to 20 couples at Baker Beach in 2025. This was made a bit tougher by the federal shutdown which closed the parking lot temporarily. However, this is all in the past and we can’t wait to be your SF City Hall Wedding Photographer in 2026!
